Four Concert in Rural Northern Baltimore County

Prepare for four unforgettable afternoons of chamber music set in some of the most picturesque and historic venues in Northern Baltimore County. From the original 19th-century saddlery in Monkton Village to the David Niven Theater at Oldfields School and the rustic charm of the Loft at Manor Mill, each setting offers a uniquely intimate backdrop for a rich musical experience. Across four concerts—The Spark of Sound, In the Shadows, Storms, but Light, and The Quiet Bloom—the series explores themes of transformation, intimacy, and illumination. Curated by pianist Wan-Chi Su and performed by a rotating ensemble of exceptional guest artists, each program invites audiences on a journey through sound, space, and story.

Artists

Wan-Chi Su, piano

Praised for her "sensitivity and imagination" by The American Scholar, pianist Wan-Chi Su has performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Salle Cortot in Paris, and Taiwan National Concert Hall. As both a soloist and collaborative artist, she has participated in esteemed festivals including the Taos School of Music and the Paris Piano Program.

Dr. Su is the founder of Duo Sorolla, an artist member with the Piatigorsky Foundation, and serves as the organist at Memorial Episcopal Church in Baltimore. A sought-after musician, she performs not only in traditional concert settings but also for underserved communities, including schools, prisons, and shelters.

Li-Mei Liang, violin

Praised for her “first rate and thoroughly engaging” playing, Taiwanese violinist Dr. Li-Mei Liang’s performance has been described as a “powerhouse” by the Boston Musical Intelligencer. An active soloist and chamber musician, Li-Mei regularly plays with the East Coast Chamber Orchestra, and has performed with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and New York Classical Players. Her recent recording of the complete Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake with the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra as a soloist and guest concertmaster was released in 2025. 

Rob McGinness, baritone

Employing his “impressive singing … well-supported tone and supple phrasing,” (Baltimore Sun) baritone Rob McGinness connects characters to ideas, and listeners to sounds. 

As a featured soloist, Rob performed in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall and Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium. Other concert credits include Carmina Burana with Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Duruflé Requiem with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, and Brahms Requiem with The Washington Chorus, for which the Washington Post praised his “warm baritone.” 

Joseph Gotoff, cello

Praised for his “clarity and an approachable sensitivity” (The Boston Musical Intelligencer), cellist Joseph Gotoff is recognized as a thoughtful and emotive performer, scholar, and teacher. With a repertoire spanning the Baroque to the modern era, Joseph is a champion of living composers, and has premiered works by Lowell Liebermann, Cody Forrest and Binna Kim among others. In 2020, his debut album “The Voice of the Cello” was released to critical acclaim on the Spice Classics label.

Joseph is most passionate about chamber music, and has appeared as a recitalist and chamber musician in concert halls across Europe, Asia and the Americas.

Zino Bogacheck, violin

Ukrainian-born American violinist, Zino Bogachek, known for his uncompromising individuality and wide-ranging musical interests, has performed extensively as a soloist, recitalist and chamber music collaborator throughout the former USSR, Poland, Austria, Mexico and the U.S. His appearances as soloist have included performances with Leopoli Philharmonic, Centennial Philharmonic, Cape Ann Symphony, Eclipse Chamber Orchestra, and Knoxville Symphony among others, inspiring the leading US press to remark "Mr. Bogachek displayed a soundness technique with meticulous care lavished on every detail" and "expert technique, emotional expressiveness and a firm sense of partnership".

Natasha Bogachek, viola

A member of the National Symphony Orchestra since 2000, a versatile and expressive performer, Natasha Bogachek has presented numerous solo and chamber music concerts and master classes throughout the U.S., Europe and South America. Ms. Bogachek has recorded for the Vernissage Records label and performed frequently on public radio.

In addition to her orchestral responsibilities, Ms. Bogachek maintains a busy concert schedule, appearing with orchestras and in recital and chamber music performances in the Greater Washington D.C. area, including Millennium Stage and Terrace Theaters of the Kennedy Center, Howard Theater, The Lyceum, Mount Vernon Estate and Embassy Series among other venues.
