“Swinging Through the Decades: Cinema Songs of the 20th Century” features jazz vocalist Janet Paulsen bringing to life classic movie songs from the 1930s through the 1990s. With engaging backstories, fresh arrangements, and a visual journey of film images, the evening promises to be both entertaining and memorable. A familiar favorite at Manor Mill since its early days, Janet is delighted to return, joined by her music director and accompanist Anthony Pocetti and a swinging band.

Hailing from Annapolis, Maryland, Pressing Strings–a powerhouse trio led by guitarist and vocalist Jordan Sokel–has earned a loyal following with their genre bending blend of blues, rock, and folk, wrapped in soul-stirring storytelling and toe tapping grooves. Their music resonates with the emotional grit of blues, the laid back swagger of folk, and the urgency of modern rock.

The Upstate New York folk-rock group Driftwood—founded by Joe Kollar and Dan Forsyth, and now including Claire Byrne, Joey Arcuri, and Sam Fishman—continues to evolve its shapeshifting folk approach. Their transformative sixth album, December Last Call, was recorded in the very basement where the dream began. It lyrically reflects on the group’s journey through life changes and the pandemic, while sonically looking ahead by experimenting with hard-rocking electric guitars and percussion alongside their bluegrass roots.

Cutting Boards with Tom Parmelee

In this two-part class, participants will make their own cutting boards to use in their homes. Students will learn about different species of woods to use for food safe projects, how to join pieces of wood together, and different oils for sealing them.

Find the space and time to metabolize grief and process the challenging times we are living in. Learn new practices that spark delight. Leave with a new practice to support you long after the class. No painting experience necessary!

Custom Made Themed Journals with Touch of Magic

Come and be a part of an exciting workshop where your imagination can shine as you craft a unique journal! You’ll have the chance to cover and bind your very own journal, filling it with themed items to create special pockets and embellishments. By the end of the session, you’ll walk away with a fully completed journal made from cardboard and decorative paper. You’re also welcome to bring along any materials you’d like to incorporate into your project, such as decorative paper, envelopes, scrapbook supplies, and more!

The Baltimore Painted Screens with Michael Seipp

The Baltimore Screen Painting workshop will include a presentation on the history of the painted screen in Baltimore, a slide show of historic and current screens, a how-to for a painted screen and the opportunity to paint either a screen you bring from home (please wash it before bringing it) or a miniature screen! This is a hands-on fun time! No age limitation, no previous experience.
