Dave Schaible was virtually born with a camera in his hand. His father, an avid photographer, spent hours answering young Dave’s incessant questions about cameras and photography. Finally, at the age of 10, Dave was presented with the first camera of his very own -- a Kodak Instamatic that he used to take (bad) photos of his family vacations.
Since that time, Dave’s interest, skill, and equipment have, you could say, evolved. Over the years, he has developed a great appreciation for art of all kinds, but especially photography and the way it captures and preserves a single moment in time. Once his children were grown and mostly out of the nest in 2014, Dave, with his Sony Alpha 85, joined a camera club and began developing his skills.
Dave discovered his true passion for fine art photography in 2016. Now working with a Sony Alpha 99 Mark II, he finds his most challenging and rewarding work consists of artistic collaborations with models who share his love of creating photographs that convey a mood or message.
In addition to fine art, Dave enjoys shooting landscapes, nature, macro photography, portraits, fashion, boudoir, and glamour. When not taking pictures, Dave works as a systems engineer at NASA with a truly large camera — the Hubble Space Telescope. He lives in Catonsville, Maryland, with his girlfriend, Sandra, three cats, a spoiled Boston Terrier, and a collection of antique cameras. The camera shown in Dave’s photo was passed down to him from his great grandfather.
