Kas Rohm
Watercolor Artist Kas Rohm enjoys creative realism in her watercolors, often with the use of waterproof ink to bring out the details of the Dreamcatcher rope binding and feather spines.
This painting was inspired by a fictional story the artist read to her grandson, who was captivated by the ancient Native Indian legends about the powers of the dreamcatcher.
As part of a watercolor workshop artist Kas Rohm held at the Manor Mill Gallery, this painting is an example of pieces that start with tissue-thin pages from old books, including both prose and musical works, affixed to watercolor paper and then embellished with watercolor accents.
Watercolorist Kas Rohm painted this Mekong Delta river scene while visiting Vietnam.
She enjoyed capturing the serenity of the moment with the fluid medium that watercolor provides.
Living most of her life not far from the Manor Mill Gallery, Kas Rohm finds inspiration for her art from the local community and environment, often infusing a splash of whimsy into her paintings and illustrations.
Although primarily self-taught in the medium of watercolor, Kas is grateful for the inspirational guidance generously provided by professional artists during her artistic career. She also values the practical grass-roots knowledge she gathers from gracious artist colleagues wherever she shares exhibition and educational space. She loves sharing her enthusiasm for watercolor during monthly workshops here at Manor Mill.
Watercolor is an incredibly versatile medium, and Kas embraces the challenges and enjoys the rewards of its majestic and unique transparency.
