| | | Encaustic Explorations: encaustic and mixed media with Bridgette Guerzon Mills Saturday, October 4 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Combining encaustic with other materials and media opens a world of creative possibilities! Encaustic is a wax based paint (composed of beeswax, resin and pigment), which is kept molten on a heated palette. It is applied to an absorbent surface and then reheated in order to fuse the paint. Learn about painting with this ancient medium in this hands-on introductory workshop where you’ll learn safe studio practices and the encaustic painting basics. Various techniques will also be demonstrated including how to incorporate mixed media processes with encaustic such as photo transfers, embedded collage, glazes with pigment sticks, and incorporating found materials. |

In this class you will learn the ins and outs of a modern woodworking shop. What tools do what and how to use them. Safety being key to the long term enjoyment of any woodworking endeavors will be the focus for all tools used. By the end of the class you should have all the knowledge needed to purchase and take a raw piece of lumber and turn it into whatever your imagination can come up with. You will leave this class with your very own finished item be it a serving tray or your very own custom clipboard! |
