Summer Newsletter

Is it okay that we still think it’s summer? We think so. But it’s been awfully busy. We celebrated one year of being open; kicked off our eighth fine arts show; held dozens of workshops, had two comedy shows, heard some fantastic music and so much more! We thought it was time for a bit of an update…

Renovations Continue!

The “warehouse”, formerly a concrete shell, now has two studios for rent, a bathroom, private classroom, and plenty of wall space for art. Our first featured artists for this space are photographers Finch Turner and Bo Willse as part of the latest show, “Sun & Shade” which runs until October 9. Artist reception is Saturday, September 10, 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Buckets of rusted nuts and bolts strewn around the property are now permanently cured in clear epoxy resin, making for a handy sink in the second floor bathroom

The back classroom has custom castle doors made from weathered barn floor boards that can be closed for a private meeting or workshop. It also doubles as another space to showcase art.

A 10-foot river counter runs along the back wall of the warehouse, filled with rocks from artist Michael Hamilton and milled from a poplar tree that was taken down on the property. Many secrets are hidden in the river, including the One Ring, the Lady of the Lake, and more. Can you find them all?

Our eighth fine arts show features Carol Lee Thompson (artist of image above), Bo Willse, Jim Kuhlman, Finch Turner and Jack Robbins. See a virtual tour and come for our opening reception September 10 @ 4:00 PM!

Pictured here is blues musician Roy Bookbinder back in The Loft. There is a LOT of great music coming this fall (and seats are limited) including the Oshima Brothers, Janet Paulsen, Caleb Stein, Katie Henry, May Erlewine and more. See them all.

Ceramics!

We fired up the kiln in August, set up the wheels, and are just installing shelves and final touches on the studio. Keep an eye out for classes coming soon. We are also looking for a part-time manager to oversee the studio, firings, classes and instructors. info@manor-mill.com

Two separate millstones were nearly buried behind the house - one is being incorporated into new walls and steps leading from the wheel well and to back warehouse; the other will be at the foot of the back door to match the front.

Slowly but surely, we’re going to reassemble the water wheel!

We have a full calendar of classes and workshops, everything from genealogy to stained glass. Check them out!

Yoga and Qigong have indoor and outdoor classes, with lots of times to suit your schedule. There is also a free meditation class two Sundays every month. Find something and go for it!
