We offer beginner, intermediate, and experienced ukulele classes, all of which are taught by the lovely and talented Rita Schmidt. Sign up for a month long course or experiment with the ukulele with a one-off class!

Intro to Ukulele - Absolute Beginners

Sunday, May 19, 2-3pm

If you've always wanted to play a Ukulele but didn't know where to start THIS is the workshop for you. Get started with Ukulele basics with this fun class. Learn ukulele anatomy; how to tune; basic chords and the proper technique in holding your instrument. By the end of the class you'll be playing simple songs and having fun!

For ages 10 and up

Next Step Ukulele

Saturday, June 8, 2-3pm

If you've taken the Absolute Beginners Ukulele Class and are ready to take the next step on your Uke journey sign up for this class. In this one-day course we will build of the concepts you've learned in the beginner class and learn four new chords: D, Dm, Em and Bm.

Pre Req: Absolute Beginner or good basic working knowledge of the Ukulele (C, F, Am and G chords and know how to tune your instrument)

For ages 10 and up

Intermediate Ukulele - More Ukulele

Sundays, July 7, 14, and 21, 2-3pm

Build on the basics learned in Absolute Beginners with this course. Add chords, learn new songs, discover how to play tablature and have FUN in this three part course. Can't make one of the dates? No worries, join us for a Brush Up/ Make Up Class!

Meet the instructor

Rita Baker-Schmidt

Rita Schmidt

Rita is a singer, songwriter and instrumentalist from the Hereford area. A lifelong musician she started teaching Voice, Piano, Guitar, and later Ukulele, Music Theory and Boomwhackers about a decade ago. She teaches privately in the Northern Baltimore County Area and is the Director of Music at EMC Performing Arts Studio in New Freedom, PA. Rita is a long time Music Minister at Our Lady of Grace where she sings and plays Bass and D’jembe for the Contemporary Music Band.

Ukulele -- Beatles Intensive

Take a deep dive into the music of the Fab Four with this Ukulele course. Learn chords and tablature for their most famous songs. Debate which album was the best and who is your favorite Beatle. Multi-week course with mini concert for friends and family at the end! Note: You must have already taken a beginner ukulele class at Manor Mill in order to register for this class- it is okay if you are registered for a future beginner class!
