Intro to Hand Tool Woodworking

Delve into the fundamentals of wood craftmanship: focusing on the mastery of hand planes, chisels, hand saws, and various hand tool woodworking techniques. Learn the essential skills of shaping, milling, and precision cutting all by hand, while connecting with the rich history of woodworking.

Spring Needle Felt Painting
Fri, 5/17 @ 1pm

The art of felting wool has been around for centuries and is found in many cultures around the world. This art form is created by pressing wool fibers through a felt backing using barbed needles. They agitate the wool fibers causing the fibers to mesh together and adhere to the backing. No experience necessary. All supplies are included. 13+

Beginner Watercolor: Seascapes

In this workshop we’ll establish our horizon where the sand and water meet the sky, and lift clouds from our blue sky with paper towels. We will use our color pallet to create natural sandy beach tones and varying depths in our blue and turquoise ocean. We’ll use masking fluid to create white foam at the water’s edge.

Intro to Hand Broom Making

Sun 5/19 @ 11am

This workshop is an introduction to traditional broom making. Participants will use simple tools to make a Turkey Wing & Fan Whisk hand broom & discover a new appreciation for the decorative & functional styles of this Appalachian craft. Participants will learn about broom making, brush control, & the “V-Up” technique while creating these works of art. For ages 16+

Fly-Tying for Beginners

Come and learn everything you need to know to tie your own flies! Each person takes home two proven winners for catching fish in our local waterways. Andrew will patiently teach you the proper use of all necessary tools and materials to give you what you need to start tying your own flies. Ages 10+

Ukulele for Beginners

Sun 5/19 @ 2pm

If you've always wanted to play a Ukulele but didn't know where to start THIS is the workshop for you. Get started with Ukulele basics with this fun class. Learn ukulele anatomy; how to tune; basic chords and the proper technique in holding your instrument. By the end of the class, you'll be playing simple songs and having fun! Age 10+

Hubby Jenkins, former member of the Grammy award-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops, is a talented multi-instrumentalist who endeavors to share his love and knowledge of old-time American music. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he delved into his Southern roots, following the thread of African American history that wove itself through country blues, ragtime, fiddle and banjo, and traditional jazz.

Brenda has over 30 years of teaching experience and is a juried artist member of the Society of Animal Artists, International Guild of Realism, and the Washington Society of Landscape painters, just to name a few.
