But first, a thank you. We’d be nowhere without youNo question, the best part about this project has been how supportive the community has been. You know who you are, and we know who you are, and it’s been a lot of fun getting to know so many — people right down the street who have known the property for years and people from the city who step into rural Northern Baltimore County and the Mill like they’re in a different state altogether.

A quick retrospective, since we first officially opened in July: Nearly 600 people signed up for a class or workshop Sold over 70 pieces of original art over the course of three full art shows in the Gallery, featuring a total of 14 established, local artists as well as the Baltimore Heritage Quilt Guild
Ran over 25 different workshops and classes, from poetry to jazz improv, paper cutting to fly tying, bookbinding to ukulele, and much more Ran over two dozen yoga classes, indoors and outdoors, and have identified a great roster of instructors for 2022. Sign Up. Enjoyed visits from both Gris Tomas Mille AND Mother Christmas Oh, and noticed there were nearly a 1000 candy purchases. Hmm… The most popular sweet? Stick candy!
Note that we will be reopening for workshops and classes starting in February. The Gallery with our next show and store will open on March 5.

Speaking of music, we’re pleased to welcome to our Music Director EJ Shaull-Thompson, a talented drummer and lifetime musician who will bring music classes, workshops, open mic nights, small performances and more to the Mill. Interested in participating? Check out our music page.

The back exterior “loft” needed a lot of love and finish work, not to mention a decent deck railing. Photo by Willy Palmer.

It was fun hosting a meeting with Ranger Dean Hughes, Assistant Manager of Gunpowder Falls State Park and his many friendly colleagues at the Maryland DNR. Looking for a space to hold a meeting or conduct a retreat? Email meetings@manor-mill.com.

What’s ahead?Lots! We’ve been busy behind the scenes, quite literally, in what we’ve affectionately referred to as “the warehouse”. On the first floor there will be a nice open space for ceramics and woodworking and on the second floor, two art studios, a classroom, a kitchenette and a larger private classroom. We worked closely with Baltimore County to arrive at a final plan, secure the necessary permits, and get to work! We hope to open this area up this spring.

A future classroom in the back warehouse, which first required putting a floor in.

Woodworking and Ceramics! We’re getting a kiln and potter wheels, as well as a few small lathes for turning. Stay tuned for classes this spring! Interested in teaching a class or running a workshop? We’re building our 2022 schedule now! Email workshops@manor-mill.com
